                                                          DUDLEY CASTLE

                                                  SITE UPDATED 2 MAY 2010

Welcome to our online gallery of nearly 1400 Black Country images.

Do not forget to check out our other five websites because there are over 4000 images of the Black Country across all websites, possibly the largest collection of Black Country images online. These encompass over 400 old postcards, memorabilia and a treasure trove of images which evoke memories of the past. Additionally, there are images of churches and headstones. All are free resources for anyone researching their family history and who may have ancestors who died in the Black Country.

The six websites currently have over 4000 images, but please note that all websites are works in progress and are added to regularly. The websites have been online for less than 18 months, but we have already received over 16000 visits across all websites in this very short period of time. Each of the websites rank highly in Google, either number one or in the top five. Additionally, this website, Black Country Images (.com) and the three Black Country Churchyards and Cemeteries websites, have a Page Rank of 1 and Black Country Genealogy & Family History has reached an  amazing Page Rank of 3 in less than 18 months!

We are working on a seventh website too which will be published soon. The photos we are adding to this new website will raise the amount of our Black Country images online to over 5000. Watch this space!!

                                                -----------------------------------

Over the last few years we have been photographing the places and buildings of interest that are, or will become part of our heritage. Our aim is to create a tardis of lasting memories before it is too late! So many of our wonderful buildings have already been lost in the 'name of progress', especially that of the 1960's which resulted in the destruction of so much of the wonderful architecture created by our forebears.

We want to preserve what remains of the past, and the 'new' that will become the past in a photographic gallery so that people whose roots lie within the Black Country may reflect upon these images. We hope that for all who live in other parts of the country or indeed the world, that this will be a window through which to view our beloved Black Country and a time capsule for future generations to look back at our local heritage. How we wish that we could turn the clock back to capture the Black Country of our childhood, but sadly, for many of us, a few family photographs are all that remain. How many of us thought all those years ago that a photograph of our favourite shop for example, would mean so much to us today? Hopefully, the photographs that we take today will hold the same memories for future generations.

We hope you enjoy your visit to this website and that it evokes as many happy memories for you as it has for us. If you have any questions, please contact us via the link below.

                                                -------------------------------------

Please note that these images of our present day Black Country are exclusive to this website and do not appear elsewhere. They are copyright of Black Country Images -  there are three of us who have worked tirelessly to photograph some of the wonderful buildings that still remain and which are, or will become part of our heritage. Please note that we protect (and have always protected) privacy rights and blur out faces and licence plates in all our photographs where necessary. If a person/persons appear in a photograph, it is with their explicit permission.

A big 'Thank You' for visiting our websites which we hope you find informative and enjoyable.
