Firkin The Bakers, Quarry Bank High Street, Brierley Hill (2009). A now vacated Firkin The Bakers, or 'Firkins' as the shop is known by Black Country folk. The 137 year old West Bromwich based firm went into administration in November 2008 and was immediately bought out by owner Ian Bolderston. The new Firkins Foods company has bought 30 of the shops and the bakery, securing around 200 jobs. However, it would appear that this particular shop is one of the unlucky ones and is yet another household name that is about to disappear from what was once a bustling High Street.

Christ Church, Quarry Bank, Brierley Hill (2009).

Christ Church, Quarry Bank, Brierley Hill (2009). Christ Church is located at Quarry Bank in what was originally a remote part of the parish of Kingswinford. This church is very similar to Holy Trinity, Amblecote as both were built using yellow fireclay bricks. The architect was Thomas Smith who also designed St John's at Brockmoor, Brierley Hill. However, whereas St John's was built in the neo-Norman design, Christ Church was built in the Early English Style.
